When I try startup Movie Maker, it comes up but then ends before I can see
any error. I am trying to reinstall it by going to %systemroot%\inf and right
clicking on moviemk.inf. The install dialog box pops up asking for location
of moviemk.ex_. I navigate to the XP PRO SP2 install CD on D:\i386 where I
see the moviemk.ex_ file, and press OPEN and then I get error "Cannot Copy
moviemk.ex_" I try RETRY. No luck.

Some users have reported problems
after installing IE7. If this applies to your
situation ...uninstalling IE7 may be worth
a try.

As for reinstalling Movie Maker...

Maybe the following link will offer some ideas:

What can I do if I upgrade to Windows
XP SP2 and Windows Movie Maker 2.1
is not installed successfully?

Also...Movie Maker can be reinstalled by
reinstalling WinXP SP2:

Generally, users install from the net but this
site allows you to download the complete
file to your hard drive before installing.

It's good for a network administrator because
you can burn it on a CD and install it on as
many computers as you need to.

And it's good for a single machine because
if you ever need to install it again...you'll have
it available without waiting for a download.

I tried the uninstall IE7 idea. Funny, when I unistall IE7 & it reverts back
to IE6, when I left click on the IE Icon, instead of it lauching IE, I get
the Internet Properties panel as if I had right-clicked on it. Very odd.
Anyway, after deinstalling IE7, I rebooted and tried MM again - same error.

I'm now going to read thru your other options. I hope reinstalling SP2 is
not what I have to do. Will let ya know.

Thanks.
