Hello, I have recently ran into a problem in which my
computer restarts over and over again at startup before i
even see the winXP splash screen. SO, I'm going to have to
resort to formatting the drive.
PRoblem is ... I don't want to lose all my email and
contact info in outlook (regular outlook not express).
In the past with express, i simply would find the
directory and copy the files over and save all my emails
but I cannot find the data to do so with outlook. Any
ideas on where and which files i need in order to save my
informatioN??? I'm asking because I can only get into DOS
mode (using an old win98 bootdisk of all things!) and I am
copying files I need through there.
Thanks for any help.
S.

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored. But whatever you do,
do NOT try simply to overwrite a PST file. Instead, reconfigure the other
installation of Outlook to use your previous PST file. Overwriting will
break links and corrupt data.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
