Trying to pre-insert common URLs into All Users' Favorites

I am trying to pre-populate our users' Favorites with
relevant URLs. When I do this as an admin user, the Fav.s
are mine, not theirs!

I understand that there is a method of doing so using
System Properties - User Profiles - Copy to. I tried this
and I fear more than just the Fav.s were copied... What
is the correct way to set up custom Favorites?

Similarly, I want to add exceptions to the proxy server
addresses for some or all users and understand that this
is a way to do it. Is this so?

Thanks in advance.

You should do this with active directory group policy. Go
to User Configuration| Windows Settings| Internet Explorer
Maintenance| Favorites and link, you can configure your
faviorites there.

Or if you do not have active directory.

You can logon as the admin, open regedit and IMPORT the
NTUSER.DAT from the c:\documents and settings\default
folder. From there you will be on your own to find the
registry key to enter, but when you do that and save the
NTUSER.DAT file, any NEW user that logs onto that box will
receive the links. If your users already have accounts,
then just delete their profiles. They will be recreted
when they loggon again.
