hi,
i am trying to open a window from a link on a page. this
link should pop up a second window without losing the
first. this second window is not opening. is it a browser
setting?
thanks
todd

right click on the link, the click "open in new window"
That will open it in a seperate window.

Double click My Computer.

2. Go to Tools -> Folder Options, and then click the File Types tab.

3. In the Registered File Types box, click URL: Hypertext Transfer
Protocol.

NOTE: We may click File Types to sort the files alphabetically. The
programs that are listed in the Opens With box are the programs with
which hyperlinks are currently associated.

4. Click the Advanced button, and then choose "open" from the Actions
list, and then click the Edit button.

5. In the "Application used to perform action" box, make sure you can
see the following text, including the quotation marks:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

6. Restart Windows.

Please try the steps above and let me know the result.

If the problem remains, please help me to collect more information for
further research:

1. Did you install any other web browser on the computer (like
Netscape)?

2. Would you please type in a hyperlink in a Word document, and then
click the hyperlink. What is the result?

3. When do you start to have this problem on the system?

For research purposes :-))
IE>tools>internet options>advanced tab>scroll to browser section, disable
'reuse windows for launching shortcuts'?

Or:
Start/Run/[CMD for XP]. Type this command: REGSVR32 URLMON.DLL. Ok/Reboot.
Then go to: IE/Tools/Internet Options/Programs/Reset Web Settings.

Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/File Types. Scroll down to
URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol/Advanced/Edit. Under Application used to
perform action it should read:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" -nohome

thanks for the tip,
however i am still not able to open the window, perhaps it
could be the link itself. i am getting a "page not found"
and then it kicks me to "isearch.com"? this might be an
adware problem.
