Trying to make Word my defualt email editor

When i follow the tools menu, then I go to options, and then to mail format
i click the word option. Yet when I enter a new mail it says:

"This form requres word as your e-mai editor,but word is either busy or
cannot be found, this form will be oepened with outlook editor."

I just installed office pro on my computer. I downloaded all the updates.
Why is this happening?
