media centre comp display and speaker and plasma
speaker(no
video display)
Win DVD comp display and speaker, nought on plasma
itunes only play through usb voip phone
voip phone seems to dominate all audio outputs
Any thoughts?
This should not be a TV OUT (S-Vid) issue, as you'd want a
better connection than that to your plasma.
I'm using an HD 1080p LCD monitor, so we should be in the same
ball park regarding connections.
Video card: ATI x1300 dual DVI, or dual VGA (the card doesn't
really matter, but I am driving two displays).
I'm using DVI to the 1080 monitor and DVI->VGA to the old
desktop LCD 1280x1024 monitor.
Sound: MoBo DD 5.1 (3 separate wire pairs) to 7 speaker system,
plus stereo L/R to the audio connectors adjoining the DVI on the
LCD monitor. I also use 5.1 or stereo headsets when I don't
want others disturbed. There are also HDVRs connected to the
1080 monitor.
To watch a video from the PC on the 1080 monitor I have two
choices:
1) if I want to continue using the PC and the 1024 monitor for
other things, I extend the desk top onto the 1080 monitor, drag
a video player onto it (I use VLC MP
http://www.videolan.org/,
or MP Classic
http://www.divx-digest.com/software/media_player_classic.html),
select file-open and then the DVD, or a folder, or a file to
play.
2) transfer the desktop to the 1080 monitor, the 1024 monitor
then shuts off, and join whoever else may be watching the video
with me.
In the latter case, I use a wireless KB/Trackball to control the
system. As that keyboard is always hot, it could be used in
case 1) as well, but then it would be competing with my use of
the wired KB & mouse.
I am not a VOIPer. My point in detailing this is that my 1080
monitor either IS my desktop or is an extension of it - so
whatever I can do sitting at the desk and the 1024 monitor, I
can also do sitting on the couch and using the 1080 monitor!
You should be able to as well.
