When trying to install a program on my windows 2000 pro.
I recieve a message like the fallowing.

"Windows Installer

The systems administrator has policies to prevent this
intallation"

Does anyone know how to disable the policy so that I can
intall my programs.

Thanks

Aye yi yi! Windows 2000, when operating using the NT file system, has the
capacity to set access policies a couple of different ways. In general, only
administrators have the power to install new software, although this can be
adjusted. When you go onto the computer, you're not logging on as an
administrator. If it's your computer, log on as an administrator and install
the software.

I am logging in as administrator and it still not letting
me install anything. As I listed before I am still
getting the same message when I login as administrator.

Your original post, appearing below, does not say that you were logging on
as an administrator. Open the control panel and then open Users and
Passwords. Who's listed there? Second, click on the "Advanced" tab in the
Users and Passwords window. Then click on the "Advance" button. Open the
Users folder. What group or groups is each entity placed in?

Is this your personal PC or 1 at work? Unless you are an
Administrator or Power User you can not install. If it is
your home pc log in as Administrator and install or as
Administrator look at your login and make yourself an
Administrator. If it is a pc at work - you would have to
talk to the Administrator for installation or changing
your profile.
