Trying to hide an object from view. let me explain...

I have a sub-menu system in my presentation that can be called to appear any
time during the presentation. The sub-menu appears over top of the current
slide and it is "context sensitve" as to what it will show on any given slide.

So basically I have created a dozen different menus and have placed them off
the side of the screen when not in use. The menus are grouped objects that
move into the screen when called upon, and so they have to be the *top-most*
object on the slide (otherwise it will be obscured by other graphics on the
screen).

Unfortunately the placement of this menu makes the editing screen awkward to
work with. With the submenu protruding from the side of every slide,
everything is off center when editing. I can use the scroll bar to get some
space back, but I still see that damn submenu poking out the side of every
slide. It's kind of annoying... and confusing to users who see it for the
first time.

So I was wondering how to hide this thing. Maybe there is a way to put the
submenu underneath the background graphic, and then call it to the foreground
during the presentation when needed?

Or if there was a way to ignore any objects that are off of the slide in
edit mode... so as to make sure the slide is perfectly centered all the time.
I would rather not see the submenu anywhere while editing...

Any ideas on how to hide this thing? How could I construct this submenu to
be less intrusive in the workspace...?

Hi

I cant see what the menu looks like but I assume its basically a shape +
text??

One technique is to have it onscreen but make any text the same color as the
background and give the shape no fill / line. You should find it is then
invisible. To bring it into view apply an emphasis animation > change fill
color (to a nice contrast so that the text shows.

You can probably adapt this idea to suit your menu

That is an interesting suggestion.. but unfortunately I have used images to
jazz up the submenu. I'm unable to remove the color and then fill it back in
during the presentation.

Thanks though.
