Trying to find and encoder

I am not sure if i need to upgrade the firmware on my player however I have a
brand new dell dj and only have of the music is being transfered to the
player the other half is saying it cannot be converted. It all ends with a
server error. I tried looking for encoders and even downloading the 9.0
buldle however same problem still can anyone tell me If it's the player of
media player. I hate juebox and don't want to use that.
