I'll ping the developers over this, but you'll find earlier posts on this
issue in this group to which the Vista Fax developers themselves have
responded. They normally do not monitor and do not respond to posts here.
Unfortunately, no user ever bothered to post back with the information they
need to troubleshoot these issues. Read those earlier posts and provide the
information they requested.

I've been struggling with this exact same issue, with SBS 2003 R2 and
Vista
Ultimate. The Fax works great within SBS for receiving. However, I can't
connect at all to send through Vista. Exact same error as mentioned
earlier
in this thread.
Somebody must know how to fix this!
Anyone?
Thanks,
Alan

I did that and I still get the security permissions message.

Thanks,

:
Not if you're using UAC. Elevate to run as an administrator in the
context
menu when you launch Fax and Scan.

I am running as an administrator.

:
I suspect you'll need to run Vista Fax as an administrator to
configure
the
Account.

Thanks Russ, I did what you suggested and now I get 'You Do Not
Have
Security
Permissions to Complete the Operation...'
I am logged onto my notebook as a local user and I can access
\\Lynserver
shares without any problems. Do I need to set anything special on
the
2003
server? Is Vista blocking This fax account setup?

Thanks,
Uwe
:
Just use \\servername in the text box for remote server.

I see the server fax as a printer in Vista machine but it
insists
on
setting
up an account. When it asks to type a server location the
following
appears.
The mentioned fax server is not available. please correct....
I have been using the server fax service from XP for a long
time,
what
seems
to be the problem?
I've tried the name as '\\lynserver\fax' and '\\fax' and
'fax',
nothing
seems to work
