Hello,
I'm really having a hard time trying to enable DMA for my
hard drives (with Intel (R) 82801DB Ultra ATA controller).
I tried the usual way (right clicking on My Computer, -->
Properties --> Hardware --> Device Manager --> IDE
ATA/ATAPI controllers --> ATA Controller --> Advanced
Settings. Yet, there is NO Advanced Settings tab to be
found.
What I was told was that there was a patch that would help
to enable my controller to DMA-5 mode (for the 100 ATA
drives). I downloaded it (q260233_W2K-SP2_x86_en.EXE) and
when I attempted to execute that patch, I was told the
following:
"Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the
system installed is newer than the update you are applying
to it. You can only install this update on Service Pack 1."
My question is, thus, how do I go about installing a patch
to allow me to access DMA capabilities to my controller?
Does something like this exist that isn't specific to
Service Pack 1?
Please help as I'm about to pull my hair out.
Thanks in advance,
Darren
