trying to connet computers to make a wireless system

I have a xp professionl computer trying to connect to a 2000 professionl to
make a wireless system.I will make the xp host computer.Xp says can't connect
with with wizard. What other information do I need.The 2000 is an older dell
computer and the new 1 also is a dell.Need information in simple terms not a
compter wizard.
just learnig the ways of the internet.

What are you using to connect them both? Wireless router? How? What is your
network configuration? Do you just want to share files or share internet as
well?
 
connect to the internet with dsl verizon. i have actiontec wireless router
on the computer in living room.1 upstairs bedroom which is my sons we just
want to connect to internet.
