I have a desktop running windows 2000 pro on it. I have a laptop
running XP pro. I have Real VNC to connect from my XP to 2000 machine,
but it only works when I am at home on the same wireless network.
However, when I am at school and need to connect to the 2000 machine I
cannot. I am pretty sure that this is becuase I need a VPN connection
when I am off my home network to be able to get back to the 2000
machine. Can someone tell me how I can remedy this situation. Not
sure how to set up a VPN and how to get it to work. I appreciate the
help in advance

VNC requires that you forward/open TCP Port 5900 on any firewall/router you
have at home. Personally I recommend using UltraVNC with its encryption
plug-in if you use VNC over the public internet or run VNC through a VPN or
SSH tunnel...
