trying to change an file ext.

I have downloaded an mini disc from my camcorder to hard drive, and now i
would like to edit it using movie maker, but it wouldn't except the original
file ext which was pdf. so i have changed ext to .wmv or .avi, and still
movie maker won't import it. Hope someone can help or if anyone knows of
another way of importing files. thanks
 
You need to go back to the instructions in the manual that came with your
camera to see the proper way to import a movie from the compact DVD into the
computer. It should NOT be imported as a pdf, which is not recognized by
WMM as it is a document file, but as either an AVI or WMV which are specific
file types. If your import program only imports as a MPG file, you will
probably also need to convert the image using a video converter program as
WMM has a problem with many MPG files.
