Having a problem at work.
Just put windows 2000 workstation on.
I log into my work domain just fine.
But in order to find/access any of the folders/drives/apps, i have to
go into network neighborhood, and manually add the path (ie.
//budget2/apps) to have them appear, and add shortcuts to my desktop.

Someone told me what I need to do is "map" the drives. I have a few
business apps on the server, and right now, I created a shortcut on my
desktop to them, but seems when I run the apps from the shortcut, it
is looking for it in my c:/document and settings/desktop directory
opposed ot on the server. Is this due to my not "mapping" anything?

If so, can someone explain what mapping is, and how I can do it to get
this problem fixed? Thanks

BTW - The server is win2000 if that matters.

Explorer|Tools|Map Network Drive
also you'll probably want to check the box for "Reconnect at logon"

I'm not sure what you're describing. Is this an application server? Or are
you trying to run executables located on the server? If the later, it would
be best to run the application install on your machine so all of the files/
libraries, etc. are located on and run from your machine. Running
executables located on the network can produce very unpredictable results.

It's a bat file for our software we use at work (Touchstone 2000).
It was installed on teh server, and all the workstations (all are 98
except mine) run the one bat file that is on the server, to run the
program.

You may want to get in touch with the application developer to see if
running it in this manner is supported.
