Wow...people on google groups are rude. I don't even own the site. I
was just trying to help get more members.

It talks about a lot of computer related issues. Security issues,
different operating systems, internet issues, software, hardware, and a
bunch more. Sorry if everyone thinks this is spam but I did not intend
it to be. Simply wanted people to check it out and see if they liked
it. My apologies

Perhaps you should learn polite behaviour before judging rudeness in others?
After all, this is not Google, this is a usenet newsgroup so, as you're
obviously a novice, why do you think you know what is or is not acceptable?

Are they? I don't see many people here posting from GG, apart from
yourself. If you want rude try Usenet. Prat.[/QUOTE]

Heheh. Guess where you are. This IS Usenet. You didn't notice, that
"Google Groups" is a usenet mirror, and your ThePlanet "Forum", too?

I know that.
You didn't notice, that "Google Groups" is a usenet mirror,

I also know what GG is. Among other things, it provides web-based
access to Usenet. I am not someone on GG, I am someone on Usenet.
and your ThePlanet "Forum", too?

theplanet.net is a domain belonging to the operators of my NNTP
server, as is pol.co.uk in my X-Trace header. I don't post to Usenet
with a browser via a web forum.

Perhaps the sublety/sarcasm of my remark to the OP was lost in
translation from .de to .uk ;)

I apologize for the behavior. I accessed this through google groups so
I was not aware that it was usernet until later. I tend to click
through things quickly and not read all the usual mumbo jumbo. The
behavior from others that I was referring to was people jumping on me
already without having a basis for it. I am now aware that Usernet gets
a lot of spam and I can see now how this might have looked like spam.
However I did not mean it that way. I simply wanted to see if people
were interested and would be willing to join. Sorry for any problems.
Now that I know it is considered spam and the great number of
disapproving people I will not post something like that again. It
really is a good site but I understand if you all think it is spam.

The difference would appear to be the intent, which is a lot on a
philosophical level, but on a practical level is not appreciable. Sorry,
that's just the way it is today.
