Try again, Start-Programs lists everything

Periodically the list of programs under the start button
expand to show all programs available. Usually only the
frequently used ones show when I first put the mouse on
the "programs" button. Although I am not placing the
mouse on the down arrow to expand the list, all continue
to show. Is there a way to reset the list so only the
frequently ones used show on the screen?

If you are seeing Start> Programs instead of Start> All Programs, you're
using XP's classic interface instead of the new interface. In this case,
you have personalized menus available to you. It will show most frequently
used programs and have arrows to expand the list.

When a system change occurs that causes all of the installed programs to
show again, I don't know of any way to reset the list. Usually it resets
itself within a day or two - according to your usage.

Sharon,
It seems like that is happening, but I don't know what is
resetting it. Would be nice to be able to reset it at
will. As difficult as it is for me, I will be patient
and wait for it to reset. Thanks.

You're welcome, Ron. I haven't used personalized menus since Win98 but I do
remember them resetting after some installations. Didn't seem to be any one
kind of installation (driver, software or operating system related). Just
happened sometimes and other times, not.
