I'm trying to setup a trust between a Windows 2000 domain
and a WINNT 4.0 domain. I can ping the remote PDC's IP
address, so I know I'm connected, but everytime I add the
trust, I get a "the ___domain cannot be contacted, please
try again later" message. Any ideas?

Or, if someone knows how to grant access to 1 machine from
another domain, that would be great too!

Have you tried adding entries to the LMHosts file on the
DC's on each side. I don't remember the syntax off the
top of my head but there is an entry that specifies the
remote domain, the netbios name of the PDC for that
domain and the ip of the PDC. Hoe this helps

Hello,

This sounds like it may be a name resolution problem. Since NT 4.0 is
involved, this is a downlevel NTLM trust. NTLM uses NetBIOS name resolution
(meaning WINS and/or LMHOSTS files).

You first need to make sure that name resolution is working. These articles
might help:

In my experience if LMHOSTS files are used, it is best to have the names
that are to be resolved listed in capital letters.
