I keep getting this error: There are currently no logon
servers available to service the logon request every tim I
try to map a drive that sits in our sister company's
native mode Active Directory domain. I am trying to map
from an NT 4.o domain through a trust relationship between
the two. I can ping the server by name and IP. Any ideas?
.
I bet that you used ADDT to create the trusts, right? It
did work I assume. Are you in a position to break the
Trusts and recreate them?
I have found that this can be an especially frustrating
situation. Everything is correct ( LMHOSTS file is
correct, can ping everything via Computername and IP
Address ) but it still does "work".
Take a look at NETDOM. I almost exclusively use this when
creating TRUSTS between NT and WIN2000. It works
everytime without fail.
BTW - NETDOM is part of the Support Tools. It is located
either on the WIN2000 Server CD ( in Support | Tools ) or
on the WIN2000 Service Pack CD ( in Support | Tools ). I
would chose the Support Tools from the Service Pack CD -
if it is avialable - over the Support Tools on the WIN2000
Server CD.
Also, I must say that I did not read your entire post at
first. I quickly looked at it and answered. However,
your problem is with mapping network drives from one
domain to another. Must admit that I have never tried to
do that. Do you have WINS installed in both domains?
