I need to link to a table in an Access 2007 database on another machine in
our network from the Access 2007 database I'm using. This worked fine in
2003, but now when I try to edit data in the linked table I get the message:
"this recordset is not updatable"

I can link to the table and see the data, I just can't edit it. I tried to
add it to my trusted locations and I get the message:
"the path you have entered cannot be used as a trusted location for security
reasons"

Please advise as to how to gain permission to update this data.
Thanks!

You can test if this actually has anything to do with Trusted
Locations by copying the server database to your local machine. My
guess is that it will not.
Make sure the table has a Primary Key. Relink the table.

You need to split your database and put the front-end on each PC in a
Trusted Location on that PC. Put the back-end on a server or PC accessible
by all.

That is how I have it set up. There are two tables I need to link to...one
is on the SQL server and the other is an Access2007 table on another PC that
is shared to three specific users. From any of these three users, I can link
to the table and view the data, but cannot make edits! I can edit data from
the SQL tables and Access2007 tables linked from the main file server just
fine. I have added this PC with this particular table to the trusted
locations on these three user's machines, but still can't edit the data! I
feel like I'm close, but maybe have a setting wrong somewhere. Any
suggestions?

Thanks for the help!!

....sorry...I misspoke about the trusted locations...I cannot add this path to
the trusted locations for the three users. I tried, but get an error message
that says "the path you have entered cannot be used as a trusted location for
security reasons". The path is a specific folder containing the database
with the table I need. The folder is shared with full access to these three
users.
Thanks!
