Cool way to keep certain executables from being run:

Excellent -- was thinking that something like this should exist. In my
mind I envisaged a ZoneAlarm-type approach: when the exe is first run,
you get a prompt of Yes or No to allow/disallow. Hopefully this will
support such a function in future. (I know you can already preset any
permissions, but on-the-fly like ZoneAlarm would be great).

I remember looking at this long time ago. I can't believe I didn't
remember it! I hope this isn't a trend. Anyway, at the time I was
looking for startup control (what sets itself to run at windows
startup). When I came across SSM I was a bit overwhelmed. I kept on
using Startup Monitor by Mike Lin instead of SSM because it uses less
resources (cpu). Startup Monitor doesn't cover as many bases as other
apps, but it has saved me every time. Perhaps if you want both startup
control and exe control, along with its other features, SSM is quite
nice.
