hello, i was wondering if anyone could help me with a
networking problem i have. i have a home networke with
two computers. one computer has a dvd player the other
does not. i have shared all the files and the drives but
when i try to access the dvd from computer 1 so i can
watch it on computer 2, it only opens a file and many
files inside of that. i have no way of playing the
movie. i know that their must be something that i am
missing in the setup because i have been able to do this
in the past. please if anyone knows how i can fix the
dvd settings so i can watch it with the other computer i
would really be greatfull!
cheers,

several thinge to note - a DVD has its movie stored in files and because you
are looking at it over the network it will not autoplay. the file you need
to play is the VOB file(s) or if you have a (software) DVD player installed
then you need to direct it to the network share containing the files.

Also you may need to get an MPEG decoder from the internet so that you can
decode the files. The decoder (not player as this costs money) should allow
you to play the files using windows media player.

And a last thing to note is that unless you have a gigabit LAN you may get
bad performance when watching the movie - one way around this is to copy the
files to your local computer before playing them.
