I've got a notebook which I am attempting to connect to
my LAN at the office. I can't seem to get a network
connection at several drops, yet I can get a connection
at others. To rule out a problem with the cable, I
connected another notebook at the drop and am able to
connect with no problems.
I would think the problem would be with the card, yet I
am able to connect just fine at other drops. I am
running Windows XP Pro, connecting using a fixed IP
address. The LAN card is a Realtek RTL8139/810x Family
Fast Ethernet NIC.
Any ideas why the connection fails at some locations, yet
works at
others? While at the same time, other machines connect
just fine at the same location this one fails at.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Erik
