I have a Dell running windows xp. When I try to download a program from the
internet I get an error message:
This versional of Windows does not support digital signatures.

I can't find anything on what to do about this that is simple enought for my
limited computer capabilites. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks

Please give the complete exact error message, word for word as it appears on-screen.
I kind of doubt the word "versional" is part of the error, and assume it is a typo,
so please give the exact message in its entirety.

What program exactly are you trying to install, and from where was it downloaded?

Is Windows up to date with all the critical updates from Windows Update?

The title on the error box reads:

"Windows Installer Installation Wrapper"

The error message reads:

"This version of Windows does not support digital signatures."

The program I am trying to install is called "OD Media Console" It is
software to read books online and download them to portable devices. This
service is through our local library so I trust the software. I have tried
turning off the firewall. I tried downloading the Windows Installer Cleanup
Utility but after downloading it, when I try to install it I get an error:
"Microsoft VBScript runtime error"

Obviously I've got more than a few things going on here but I am trying to
figure out one error at a time.

Thanks very much for your help.

* Not fully certain * , but it might be refering to Digital Rights
Management ( DRM ) . If you google drm , you might get a better
understanding .
Can`t explain more , as I don`t understand it .

What is the rest of the VBScript runtime error that you get when trying to install
WICU? Is there an error number included?

Error: ActiveX component can't create object: 'Scripting.FileSystemObject'

Code: 800A01AD

Again, thanks for the help

Try this:

Click Start> Run, type this exactly:

wscript -regserver

|Click OK|

Then try installing WICU again.
