Trouble with Zone Alarm

I am running windows XP.
  I have had the free version of zone alarm for a year and never had
any trouble until today, the icon dissappeared from the taskbar, I went
into the notification window where you can change the behavior from
always show or always hide and the zone alarm icon was replaced with
True Vector security icon, I think it is part of zone alarm. My problem
is this, When I try to down load from the web,I get this message.("This
page is to notify you that Zone Alarm has detected a problem with your
installation, and therefore has restricted Internet access from your
machine for your protection.") I don't have any trouble connecting to
the internet
    The only way you can contact Zone is to call them at a cost
of three dollars a minute,and the way some of these techs are it could
run into a large amount. thinking that removing zone would solve the
problem, so I uninstalled zone alarm then when I tried to download it
from the web is when I first got the message, I have tried to download
other software to check out the problem and get the same message.
      I'm sorry this is so long, but I need help on this
problem, All help to resolve this will be appreciated.

Did you use the Uninstall Zone Labs Security entry in the Start Menu to uninstall Zone Alarm? That is the best way to do it. If not, you may have to reinstall and then use that uninstall entry to get your problem solved. Do not connect to the net without activating the Windows Internet Connection Firewall to give your system some protection until you get your new copy of Zone Alarm Free Version downloaded and installed. After you have ZA installed you can then deactivate the Windows ICF.

Try using XP's System Restore to a date before this all

happened. Failing that, you should probably contact ZA for
instructions regardless the cost...it would be better than
not being able to use your computer.
 
The problem maybe you turned on the firewall for your internet connection on the advance tab
If not, then download a new copy of ZoneAlarm
Double click it and the installer should detect your current installation
Select clean install and that should give you a clean new installation
If that does not work - goto Add Remove Programs and run the uninstaller there
Then goto your Program Files directory and delete the ZoneAlarm folder
Then goto REGEDIT and delete the keys for ZoneAlarm
Run checkdisc on the drive - then do a defrag
Then make sure you have no firewalls running like Your internet connection firewall, Intalled McAfee virus scanner with the firewall or Nortons. You can only have one firewall running as firewalls donot play nicely together
Then disable your virus scanner and reinstall ZoneAlarm and that should work
Also haveing your screensaver activated is not wise when installing software.
