I need to setup Remote Desktop, using it with a VPN

I am working with a Win XP Pro Laptop, and it should connect to a Win XP
Home Desktop computer through the internet and want it to be secure. I know
what to do with Win XP Pro's, but this is the first time working on a XP home
Desktop Computer.

If any one can help, it would truly be appreciated!!
Thankz in advance...

You can't use Remote Desktop to remotely access/control a XP Home machine.
You can use an alternative like UltraVNC with its encryption plug-in and XP
mirror driver.

You can run UltraVNC through a VPN or SSH tunnel for added security. Here
are some links that may help with that.

SSL-Explorer VPN...

Secure Shell (SSH)...

PPTP VPN...

Some folks also purchase VPN end-point/server type routers or upgraded
supported routers with third-party firmware like DD-WRT that includes a VPN
end-server function. Here are some examples and links...

Windows XP Home Edition... does not have Remote Desktop capabilities.
Remote Assistance - yes. Remote Desktop - no. They cannot be installed
either. If you want the 'native' tools - you have to upgrade to Windows XP
Professional (or superset OS.) If you just want remote desktop-like
capabilities - I suggest UltraVNC.
