Hi there,
Made and saved a movie as a WMV and I'm trying to get it to playback on some
different laptops for use during a church service this weekend. Although it
plays well on the computer it was created on it will not play on any of the
laptops. Is there a way to save it differently so it will play?
Thanks,
Tina

Is it possible that you are trying to play
the .mswmm project file? This is only
compatible with Movie Maker.

Just to verify...the file is definitely saved
in the .wmv format? You saved by going
to...File / Save Movie File?

Might be worth a try to save in the. avi
format but I am surprised the .wmv file
won't play on your laptop. Are these
laptops running a current version of
Windows Media Player?

How do I save my movie as a
DV-AVI file in Movie Maker?

Hi John,
Thanks for the quick response. Yes, we are talking the .wmv format. I am
saving in the .avi format per your suggestion. The laptops are running
version 1.1 of Movie Maker. Is that too old? If it is, how do I upgrade to
the most current version?

Thanks for your limitless wisdom.

Ok...the .wmv format should be ok but
instead of trying to play the file in MM1.1...
use Windows Media Player.

As for MM1.1, you can download 2.0 at
the following link and if you upgrade
Windows XP to SP2 it includes MM2.1.

MovieMaker 2.0

Tina,

Also check to see what version of Windows Media Player the laptops have
installed. If they aren't at version 10, they may have problems with
MovieMaker movies. Just update them to version 10 and the problems should
disappear.
