Trouble with lost links after downloading copy of my site from cd

Trying again to download my site from a cd after getting a new computer.
Did this before when the previous one crashed and found picture links were
lost.
Same thing has happened again. Not sure if it's something to do with the
attributes at time of downloading or afterwards ie. read-only or whatever, as
far as doing it from a copied version on a cd.
Help much appreciated.
 
copy your files from your cd to a folder on your hd, remove all read-only
attributes from files.
