trouble with links

I have recently been encountering the following message almost every time I
select a link within a website: "Cannot perform this operation because
default mail client is not properly installed." If I type out the link, I
don't have a problem. Any insights?
 
I appear to have fixed my own problem by changing settings in OUTLOOK
EXPRESS. Had apparently overlooked fact that the problem was related to
e-mail only. Please correct me if I'm wrong (i.e., it also applies to other
websites). Thanks.
