I have a small Soho with 1 Domain controller and 1 member
server running ISA and 3 workstations. I have a stand
alone root CA setup on my DC to issue certificates. When
I connect remotely via a VPN client it works if I use
PPTP. When I try to use IPSEC it does not.

I have requested and issued an IPSEC certificate from my
standalone root CA. I have installed the certificate on
the remote machine. But I still get the following
message. error 781 encryption failure because no valid
certifate found.

What step am I missing??

Thanks Allan Ackerman

What were the steps you took to install the cert? It's possible that it was
stored in a way that is not compatible with IPSec.

I have a standalone root CA on my DC. I have IIS running
on the DC and I have the default website published on my
ISA server. The ISA server is also my VPN server and it
works if I use PPTP.

I requested and ipsec certificate on my ISA server and
also requested a IPSec certificate on the remote
machine. Installed both certificates in the local
machine store on their respective machines. I then set
my VPN connection properties to use l2tp and it fails.
