Hi -

I'm having an issue with IE6 and hoping one of you experts have seen this
before and can help.
Please bear with me as I'm not a "web expert".

OK...here's my problem...
Basically, every webpage I visit will not diplay any type of effect buttons,
and various text is overlaping. Everything on all webpages looks like it's
just basic and not showing all content.
The person who used this computer has a vision problem and has no idea what
they did. An example is if I visit a site lime comcast.net the rollovers on
the left side are just black & white test with a rectangular boz around it.
I cannot upgrade to IE version 7 due to an application that will not run on
it...but I tried this anyway and it did not resolve the problem.
I'm running Windows XP with SP2.
Things I've tried:
- Verified there's no Spyware, Viruses, etc.
- Checked Font Setting in IE
- Checked Accessibility Options
- Reinstalled Multimedia Flash (several times)
- Reinstalled SP2
- Verififed "File Types" (HTM, HTML, etc.)
- Tried "Reset Web Settings" in IE

Does anyone have a clue what happened here? I have a couple hours into this
and I feel like I'm overlooking something stupid. I really do not want to
reload windows and start over.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Thank you!

If you've made sure that everything is unchecked in IE's Tools...Internet
Options...General tab, Accessibility button...

Check Start...Settings...Control Panel...Accessibility...Display tab
settings. In Display go to the Settings tab, Advanced button, General tab,
and make sure the DPI is set to Normal (96).

Make sure scripting isn't turned off in IE's Security section - go to the
Custom button or just set the Internet Zone to Medium.

Make sure CSS isn't disabled in the registry:

Jon -

Thank you very much for thee reply! I finally was able to look at it again
last night and the items you gave me to try actually steered me in the right
direction.

The actual fix ended up being found under \\Control Panel\Accessibility
Options\Display Tab\High Contrast\Settings and I hit left<ALT> left<Shift>
Print Screen which resolved the problem.

I have no idea how the person disabled or enabled this "High Contrast"
option, but hitting that key sequence fixed the problem.

A big THANK YOU Jon for preventing me from reloading Windows!

Take Care!
