trouble with IDE on poweredge1400SC

Hello I'm attempting to install WINXP on a Dell 1400SC using a WD
200Gig drive. Xp appears to install but on reboot the system just hangs
for a couple minutes the says "disk read error occurred".....

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...
 
Format HDD in low level, then if it does not help replace:

1.HDD data cable
AND/OR
2.power supply

If the install completes, then the main body of the hard disk is OK, so its
a setting somewhere. If XP has only just installed, then the windows
settings must be OK, so that only leaves a problem with the boot sector of
the hard disk or a BIOS setting. The Windows XP install runs from CD, so
check in the BIOS that the computer is set to boot from the CD first, then
the C: drive. Then remove the CD, reboot and try again.
