Trouble with error message: affecting ability to import video, ma

For the past year or so, we have been receiving this error message upon start
up: "The application or DLL C:windows\system32\devenum.dll is not a valid
windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette."

It hadn't seemed to be affecting much (except Windows media player
perhaps?)...but we just received a digital camcorder, and the error message
appears when we try and import video from the camera, and appears to be
stopping us from doing so. Any ideas?
