Trouble with 'Add/Remove Programs'

I am trouble removing an installation that is listed in
my Add/Remove list. I attempt to click on it to remove
it, however, an error message appears which reads:

'Error loading C:\PROGRA~1\Yahoo!\COMPAN~1
\Installs\cpn\YCOMP5~1.DLL The specified module could
not be found.'

The program I am trying to remove is called 'Yahoo!
Toolbar'. This is installed when Yahoo! Messenger is
downloaded.

I have tried many different approaches:

(1) using 'Search' to find this folder
(2) using the method listed on the Microsoft Support
page-using 'Run' -> regedt32 ->
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES\SOFTWARE....

I have tried to re-install the Yahoo! Messenger, however,
it does not function properly. I believe it may due to
the fact that I am not able to remove the above program.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Melissa

Hi what version of yahoo messenger are you using.
are you using the new version of yahoo.
Do the following to solve ur problem.

run setup for yahoo messenger again but this time make sure that you have included all the options including toolbar etc.
then make sure that the application gets installed and then you are able to use the yahoo toolbar as well as the yahoo messenger.
After using it, disconnect from the internet and then try to uninstall the application using the setup again and choose Remove all and use the manual process so that you are able to choose the components that you want to remove. do not use the add/remove programs to uninstall the application.

Melissa, the easiest solution - you don't need to get rid of it.
Just get it out of the way. The Yahoo toolbar does not insert itself
into memory at start-up like some other oddball toolbars.

All you need to do - after you start up Internet Explorer, right-click
on the Internet Explorer toolbar somewhere where it is blank (no
icons). A little drop down window will open. One of the listings is
"Yahoo Companion", & it will have a check mark in front of it. Just
uncheck the god darned thing, at that will be that. It will disappear
& never bother you again. & if for some reason you want to use it,
just reverse the procedure. Like for some reason you might want to
use the Yahoo search engine in the toolbar instead of Google.
