trouble uninstalling NAV 2002

I am trying to un-install a corrupted Norton Antiviruw
2002 program from my Win XP Home PC, but once the
uninstall starts, an error message stating that the
Windows Installer Package cannot be accessed, and that
uninstall will end. It says that the Installer Package
will not run in safe mode, or that it may be corrupt or
damaged. I am running in normal mode. So, how do I fix
this Installer package error and safely remove NAV 2002?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think there may be a file on Symantec site that will uninstall this.
go look.
