Hello All,

I am trying to set up a Network Camera, I have the following Network Camera
D-Link DCS-950., I am able to access the camera, within any of the computers
in my home which all are connected through a Westell Versa-Link DSL modem
provided by Verizon. The camera is also attached to the Westell Versa-Link
DSL modem. Now if i try to access the camera from outside my home which are
my intentions that is the reason why i got the camera, i am unable to do
that. ( http://192.168.1.44 ) which is the address to access. Anyone out
their can be of some assistance I would greatly apreciate it. Thanks Oscar

That seems to be covered on pages 40-48 or so in the Users Manual...You can
download a copy from D-Link. Its more than likely also on any CD that came
with the device.

I would post additional questions concerning D-Link devices to the forum on
the Broadband Reports site since this question is really outside the scope
of this news group...

Good luck...

Please describe in steps how you are trying to access camera from outside.

The 192.168.... is a local address assigned by the Versa-Link router. To
access the camera remotely you would need to use your external IP address
provided (probably dynamically) by your ISP and to configure port forwarding
in your router to the camera's local address.

I think you need to learn some basics of networking and routing to
understand this. Perhaps reviewing some of the basics at
http://ezlan.net/#Networking would be helpful. Look at topics like
"Connecting through the Internet to a Home Computer / Network / Server."
Take a look also at http://www.dyndns.com/ to learn about wayw to find an
address your home computer.

You might also consider paying for DLinks web cam service with provides
dynamic IP addressing and other features and would simplify this for you.
In that case, you would only need to configure port forwarding in the
router.

When accessing from the outside you have to set up your router to port
forward to the IP address of the particular camera that you want to see.

If you dont know how to do this reply to this and I will tell you how. It
is pretty easy
