I am getting the following error message after trying both IMAP and POP 3
settings for my account. also tried changing the outgoing port to Port 587
per AOL's instruction. Seem to be getting emails in, but not out. Any
ideas on how to solve?

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Test', Account:
'pop.aol.com', Server: 'smtp.aol.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '556
CLIENT AUTHENTICATION REQUIRED. USE ESMTP EHLO AND AUTH.', Port: 587,
Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 556, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

Your settings don't quite agree with what AOL specifies:
http://postmaster.aol.com/imap/express.html

1. Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

2. Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option.
