I have about 100 earthlink email adresses in a group that I send messages to
often (critical to my business). New computer last week, now using Vista and
windows mail, and suddenly I can't get emails to any of these people. The
error message is:

RCPT TO generated following response:
550 Authentication required. Help at http://www.earthlink.net/go/emailsettings

The link leads to a dead-end! Anyone know about this?

Kim,

Are you also an EarthLink customer? If so, check out this link:

No, I'm not - maybe that's the problem :-)

No, actually that's a different problem. :)

My guess is that your email address does not match your smtp server.
EarthLink sees this as an attempt to "relay" mail (using someone else's
server to send your mail) and blocks it because using an "open relay" is a
major tool of spammers.

If your email address is (e-mail address removed), your smtp server entry in
account setup needs to be something.domainOne.com or your mail is going to
be tagged as relayed.

Most ISP's try to block relaying on the sending side of the transaction;
some also block relayed mail on the receiving side and it appears that
EarthLink is one of the latter.
