I normally have no problem sending email with Windows Mail,
however, I have one email going to an AOL address that gives me
the following message:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was ': (e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'Your Wellness
Newsletter', Account: 'pop.east.cox.net', Server: 'smtp.east.cox.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.5.0 <: (e-mail address removed)> missing or
malformed local part', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error
Number: 0x800CCC79

I have disabled the outgoing email scan in McAfee but to no avail. I can
delete
the email from the Outbox no problem. I have sent other emails to AOL address
that work fine. Also, I've tried both ways with the authentication setting.

Suggestions gladly accepted!

McAfee can be so corrosive that disabling is insufficient.
It must be uninstalled entirely followed by the deletion
and recreation of the email account within Windows Mail.

Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
is proving to be a good antivirus for Vista systems and
has the bonus of being free.

note. Even with Avast email scanning should be disabled,
better yet omitted at install time.
