I would suggest that you use as many disks as
necessary to save your full sized files. I always
burn my original, unedited files on CD-Rs...and
all editing is done on copies.

Anyway...

I guess you're running WinXP or you wouldn't
be here...right?

OK, go to the following link and download and
install: ImageResizer.exe

http://tinyurl.com/36n

Then you can open any folder that contains
images and you will have an option to resize.
Just right click the selected image files and
choose Resize Pictures from the menu. You
can select one image or a whole group.

The program will place the resized copies in
the folder with your originals. If you click the
"Advanced" button there's an option the
replace the originals with the resized copies.
If you decide to use this option, I suggest that
you make copies of your originals first and
save them in a separate folder.

(Tip: *Never* overwrite your originals)

OK, I downloaded that. When I right click on the photo I get the resize option, when I have a look at the properties the photo is still 1.53mb. I tried to copy one of the photos over to a blank cd & i got this message: This CD does not have enough free space for all your files. There is 702mb free space, and 27.4GB to be written..... I don't understand!
Thanks for you your help

Lets try a little experiment.

Go to your desktop and right click it...from the menu...
choose...New / Folder.

Now, you have a new folder on your desktop...ok...

Now, open a folder that contains image files and right
click *one* file...from the menu...choose...Copy.

Now...close the image folder and right click the New
Folder on your desktop...from the menu...choose...Paste.

Now...open your New Folder...right click the image file
and from the menu...choose...Resize Pictures.

On the resize pictures screen...select a size...640x480
will be excellent for this exercise.

Click...OK.

Now you have two images in your New Folder. Compare
the size of your original to your new "small" copy.

===

Apparently, you have 27.4GB of files in your image folder.
Hard to believe but that's what you reported. And it appears
that when you tried to burn your CD you selected *all * of
the files.

Thanks for that, yes resized not a problem. Still getting the same result when trying to copy to cd. I highlight one of the photos to be written to the cd and hit 'write these files to cd'... that's when that thing about having so many GB's there comes up, yes, I have a few movies stored there, but I don't highlight them... What am I doing wrong
Thank you for your help

Your folder that has "files waiting to be written to disk", is probably full
of junk. Get Nero burning software, as the burn ware that comes with xp is
junk.

It may be worthwhile to carefully read all of the
artices that I posted for you.

To answer your question...there must be files
in your staging area that were previously selected...
possibly by accident. Anyway....they need to be
removed...open the following article and scroll
