Trouble running older programes

Some of the programes I need to run will only run in 256
colors, these are learning games for kindergarten
students, but others need a much high color scheme to
run. Is there a way to run all the programes on the same
profile

Go into the properties of the shortcuts for the games. You'll find options
to run that program in 256 colors among others on the Compatibility page.
