trouble print png file

Using PPT 2003. I have created a png file which is to act as a watermark in
powerpoint ie transparent. The thought is that people insert their own
images, send to back and the png file creates a watermark on the image. It
looks fine on screen but the 'watermark' does not print at all.

I tried creating a similar shape in ppt with a transparency whcih again
looks fine on screen but prints very badly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Many printers use PostScript based printer drivers, which handle
Transparency very badly. Try using another printer (inkjet printers often
print transparency better than laser printers) or another printer-driver.

In addition to the other suggestions, when I have encountered this problem
with printers, I have saved the entire presentation out as PNGs., then
created a new presentation and used the Photo Album image import to bring
all the pre-rendered slides back in to the blank presentation. This will
usually print well and fast (since all the transparency layers have been
flattened). This process doesn't take as long as it looks like it does.

Thanks for that Bill. That is really useful thing to know. I don't think it
is worth it on this particular job as only a few of the slides have the issue
and therefore Steves suggestion works great. But I love this feature and will
definately use it in the future. In the past I have exported slides as images
and had to put each image back onto its own slide so lots of time saving here!
