You may have to right-click on the taskbar and deselect "Lock the taskbar"
to move it to the bottom of the screen.

Although by default the task bar appears on the bottom of the screen,
it can be on any of the sides you prefer it on. To move it from any
side to another, simply click on an unused part of it and drag it
where you want it. Be sure to click *within* it, not on the edge;
clicking on the edge and dragging will resize it.

If it won't move, it may be locked. In that case, right click on it
and uncheck "Lock the taskbar," then try again.

Hi Ken,

Wonder if you can help me?

I have Windows Vista and while doing a tutorial in Excel my taskbar moved
from the bottom to the top of the screen all on its own!

It is not locked but it won't move!

I can expand the bar to half way down my screen but I can't get the top of
the bar to move!

I have tried clicking all areas of the bar to no avail!

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

You should be able to click any unused part of it and drag it to
whatever side of the screen you prefer.

If it won't move directly to the bottom, try dragging it to one side.
Then click again and drag it to the bottom.
