I am teaching myself the ins and out of Microsoft networking with a mini
network at home. I have a PC running 2000 Server and two clients (laptop
and desktop running XP Pro). This whole network is all behind a DSL wireless
router. I was able to join the laptop to the domain, but could not get the
desktop to do the same. I get the following message:
A domain controller for the domain davejacoby.com could not be contacted.
Under the details:
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain
davejacoby.com:
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)
The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.davejacoby.com
Common causes of this error include the following:
- The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.
- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child
zone:
davejacoby.com
com
.. (the root zone)

Any ideas?
