When attempting to install this game I receive the following messages:

Dsetup.dll
"Cannot get address of DirectXSetupGetVersion

followed by:

oops
"m_DirectXSetupGetVersion is NULL"

I've contacted the EA Games tech support and followed their instructions
regarding background processes, tried copying discs and launching from my
hard drive, even exchanged discs at their suggestion, and I still get the
same message. I've run DXDIAG, which shows no problems. I have DirectX 9c and
my computer surpasses all minimum requirements for the game. I have other EA
Games and no problems.

Any suggestions?

Stab in the dark... Are you using the same language version of Windows / DX
and the game?

Thanks for the reply Paul. I'm in the U.S.A. I bought the game at a local
store. I just double checked DXDIAG and I do have the English language
version. Windows XP Home is English language also.

How to handle a DirectXSetupGetVersion Error:

Usually when I see this error, the computer had a previous
version of Windows installed, and XP was installed on top
of the older version of Windows instead of a clean install.

As a result the setup file which the game's installer looks for
doesn't exist in the location where it's searching.

There's a way to correct this issue without reinstalling XP:

Download and install the *Complete* DirectX 9.0c:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...11-62fe-4f61-aba1-914185249413&displaylang=en

*Antivirus / Firewalls can corrupt the download and installation,
it's highly recommended you disable them during this process.

After you install DirectX, reboot your computer and try
installing the game again. If you still get the same error:

1. Search your hard drive for dsetup.dll

2. Right click each instance of the file listed / select Properties
until you find one that is version # 4.9.0.902 or 4.09.00.0902
Right click and Copy that file, we're going to paste it in Step 3.

3. Go to c:\Windows\system32, rename dsetup.dll to dsetup.old if
it exists, and then Paste the file we copied in step two into the folder.

4. Reboot, and install the game again. If you still get the error
double-check that the file was copies properly in step 3.

Well, it's a bit of work, but I hope it works out for you. Best of luck! :-)

Hi Jimmy S.

Okay. Thanks. This worked! I was able to install the game, but when I click
on the "Play" button on the opening screen I got the following error message.

Game Crash
"INI::load cannot open file 'Lang\***FATAL*** String Manager failed to
initialized p\Language.ini"
"Because of severity of this error the game will now exit."

I checked the game's help section, but was unable to find anything specific
to this message. What do I do now?

Hi Smart,

Tomro "reinstalled the discs" as per his post and that fixed the problem.
Hopefully the same solution will work for you as well! :-)

Hi Smart,

Tomro "reinstalled the discs" as per his post and that fixed the
problem.
Hopefully the same solution will work for you as well! :-)
