I receive a "no transport provider available" message
every time I send an email with an attachment. I think I
have found the resolution to the problem at Microsoft
Knowledge Base Article - 194878. Problem is, the
instruction is over my head. I don't know how to create a
RHC file, etc. Could someone give a step-by-step
instruction to an end user? The address of the article is
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;194878&Product=out97

Thanks.

Christine-

I don't think the Knowledge Base article you mentioned
applies to your situation. It's talking about a sitation
where you're on a corporate network, getting your mail
through a Windows NT Terminal Server. This is not the case
if you're at home, and/or connecting through a cable, DSL
or modem connection.

If I'm wrong and that IS your situation, you need to get
your I.T. department/System Administrator to fix the
problem- the file being talked about is on the network
Server machine, not your PC..

Otherwise, you need to keep searching for your problem. I
would double-check all your Internet e-mail Settings in
Outlook- Incoming (POP) server name, Outgoing (SMTP)
server, etc. Your ISP should have a Support web page that
will tell you the proper settings.

Also, are you using Outlook 97 or 98? The article you
mentioned is specific to them.

I would take a look at the following KB page:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;180484&Product=out

It gives you several things to look at.

If that doesn't help, go to
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;EN-
US;KBHOWTO , select the version of Outlook you're using in
the Select a Microsoft Product box, and search on "No
Transport Provider"- leave the quotes in. Make sure you
select 150 Articles and Full Text. Go through each of the
Articles that come up, making sure that they apply to your
situation as far as version of Windows, version of
Outlook, error message, etc. One of the Articles should
help you out.
