Trouble connecting to the new linksys n-router.

I just bought and installed a linksys wireless n-router. My laptop is the
only computer in the whole house that is having some problems. It was
connecting fine until now. In the hardware it doesn't show any red or yellow
crosses. When I try to ping it, it doesn't answer. When I do ipconfig it gets
the old default gateway adress. When I check the status I can see that it
sends packets but it doesn't receive any. THe properties in TCP/IP seem fine.
Respect my 1394 connection it shows connected but in status is not sending
neither receiving packets and when I try to repair it says that TCP/IP is not
enabled for this connection; which when I go to TCP/IP properties also it
shows everything fine. The worst of all is when I try to connect wireless.
Every time I try to enable the connection brings down the computer and I
need to go to save mode without network to restore to an earlier point, so I
don't even want to try to anable it again.
I have an IBM R50 laptop and it has win xp pro v2.
Does anyone have an idea what is wrong? I would really appreciate any help.

Hi
1394 is the Firewire Network Socket and has nothing to do with your
Wireless, disable it, or leave it alone.
Are you sure that you have active installed wireless card on your laptop?
May be this can Help, http://www.ezlan.netwireless.html

Hi,
THanks for your reply. I looked at the website and they suggest that the
computer might have a physical switch. I never knew about this switch and I'm
not sure it has one. I don't have the manual to see if the IBM R50 has any
physical switch to enable the connection and I tried to google it without
luck.

Where is my ThinkPad User's Guide?

Note: A User's Guide is not included with newer ThinkPad systems,
therefore it is also not available in PDF or hardcopy format.
ThinkPad systems are preloaded with the Access Help application which
contains information similar to that which would be included in a User's
Guide. You can access this application by pressing the appropriate
button on the top left of your keyboard: ThinkVantage button or Access
Help button or ThinkPad button.
