Trouble Connecting to Newsreader

I just got a second computer which I bought second hand.
My msn newsgroups newsreader (which I'm posting from) works just fine.
The netnews reader which connects to all the alt. groups however is telling
me that it can't connect to the server. I called msn tech support 3 times
and got nowhere. According to them usenet is no longer avilable via Outlook
expres and they suggested I use Google instead. They also told me all the
msn newsgroups have been discontinued, which is funny because I'm posting to
one at this very moment.

Anybody out there got any tips on trouble shooting my netnews reader so
it'll download alt. newsgroups? And does anybody have any idea what gives
with msn tech support these days?

Okay, so what are you ACTUALLY using as your NNTP (network news transfer
protocol) client? Outlook Express? If so, what news server IP name or
IP address do you specify for their news server? A web page via
browser? If so, what URL are you using to get to their newsgroup/usenet
service?
