Trouble After Loading Service Pack 2 for XP?

Has anyone had trouble uploading movies from their Sony digital handycam to
Movie Maker after loading the Service Pack 2 for XP?

Just curious! I think I might be having such a trouble. I had to go back
to an earlier restore point to be able to upload again?

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm seeing a lot of posts that sound just like this, Dave. The unifying
factor seems to be that everyone's using a Sony Handycam. I'm trying to
investigate....

Can you tell me:

1. The make/model of your DV camera (Ex: Sony HC-30)
2. How you are connecting it to your PC (Ex: USB or 1394/firewire)?

Well --

Here's what I tried on a clean machine (No extra software other than the
Sony USB drivers)....

With the Sony HC-30:
On WindowsXP (no upgrades) --
I could get DV capture working simply by plugging in the device to my
1394 port.
I could get USB capture working by installing the USB drivers, and
ensuring that my device was in the correct mode per Sony's documentation.

After upgrading to XPSP2:
DV capture over 1394 was still working just fine.
I needed to *reinstall* the USB drivers from Sony to capture from the
USB connection. (The device was "banged" out in the control panel) But one I
re-installed the USB drivers, everything went smoothly.

I have no clue why the upgrade lost my drivers -- but reinstalling them only
took a matter of seconds, and a reboot.

Hi Kristen, thank you for replying to my posting, I am still operating fine
on an earlier restore point pre-SP2.

The camera is a Sony DCR-TRV19E. I connect using a firewire connection.
Any ideas?

Kristen,

I had trouble saving the finished movie back onto my DV camera. Had no
problem capturing video. Using a Gateway 500S Plus, Sony DCR-TRV130 camera.

I restored my PC to just before SP2 and it works fine. I also reinstalled
drivers after SP2 and it still did not work.
