I have a desktop and a laptop connected wirelessly to a 4-year-old
Linksys 802.11b router, which is connected to a cable modem. Both PCs
are running Windows 2000 Professional. I never had any problems
accessing internet from either PC for a long, long time. Recently, I
set up shared folders on the desktop and was trying to map the shared
folder to a drive on the laptop. When I try to do the mapping, I get a
password prompt and soon after that a message that the network path is
not accessible. Then, I lose internet access on both PCs. There is no
change either in the ipconfig output or the wireless signal strength
before and after I lose access. I can get back internet access only by
resetting the router. Then it works fine until I try to map the shared
folder.
I changed channel numbers, rebooted, etc. but no improvement.
Has anyone experienced this situation? Are there any guru's who can
help me solve my problems with accessing shared folders?
TIA
